This blog is designed to any person curious about France, its people, its culture.
It’s been now more than 2 years that I’m going out with this great German dude, and it’s been now more than one year that we’re embracing our cultural differences, with ups and downs. Our culture is deeply engraved in our beeing, whether it is the mentality and customs of our families or the culture that our country gives to us. Therefore, there’s no week without a little “ach! you Germans!” from me, or a “you French people are so weird!“, from him. We tease each other, we laugh about it, but we know we’re still a little strange to each other, because étranger (foreign).
Our cultural differences surely lead us to question things about ourselves and our countries that we would have taken for granted before, and I realized I liked that, I mean, trying to uncover the whats, hows, whys of the French customs, mentalities, habits, tastes and explain all this to him. Since I enjoy it so much, I thought that maybe, like my boyfriend, other people might be interested in learning more about France and its culture.
I give you my understanding and the experience of my country, little facts that I heard, learnt, saw, it’s my personal point of view and I want to explain things the way I would do to my bf or a foreign friend. I want to increase your understanding of the French culture from the inside, such as you would discover it if you were living in a French family for a little while, and I don’t think this is in a lot of books that you can buy out there. That said, I don’t claim to be always right, I only propose my explanations to specific questions.
